Some of the Best Wedding Venues in Yorkshire
One of the great perks of being a wedding photographer is that I get to visit some fantastic venues. Not just in Yorkshire, but all around the UK and one in Switzerland too! I’m happy to travel almost anywhere to shoot your big day and if I’ve not photographed your venue before, then I see it as an opportunity to shoot somewhere new. I always visit new venues before the big day anyway to put together a plan…
Sometimes it’s the light in the bridal suite when the bride is getting ready in the morning. Often, it’s the grounds or surroundings and finding a little spot that no one else has seen or used previously. Sometimes, it’s that they really know how to make a bride, groom and their family and friends feel really special. Occasionally, it’s that they have a bottomless cup of coffee for the photographer (Hornington Manor – that’s you).
Whatever the reason, below you can see some weddings at venues that I’ve shot at and count among my favourites:
I’m not really supposed to have favourites. But, if you forced me, I’d have to say that I love Hornington Manor the most out of all the venues that I’ve worked at. You can’t beat the relaxed environment for getting ready, the beautiful interior and the stunning surroundings. They really know how to look after you there too.
Falling Foss Tea Gardens
Falling Foss Tea Gardens near Whitby in North Yorkshire is an idyllic house, set in a woodland next to a shallow river and the Falling Foss waterfall. The scenery is beautiful. The atmosphere is natural, relaxed and at one with nature. This is the perfect venue to make your big day truly unique.
Newton Grange near Skipton in North Yorkshire is the perfect combination of a country house and barn venue. The house is perfect for an outdoor ceremony and is located next to the canal for photographs and the barn is situated with a backdrop of fields and dales. I had a great day here at Ellie & Christian’s Humanist Wedding.
Robin Hood’s Bay
Robin Hood’s Bay Wedding. I couldn’t have a page about my favourite places to shoot without mentioning my favourite place on earth. Robin Hood’s bay. I’ve shot two very different weddings there and the whole village buzzes with excitement when there’s a wedding. Swell cafe and the village hall are both excellent venues and you cannot possibly go wrong with the scenery. If you’re getting married in Robin Hood’s bay, Please book me! Please!!
What can you say about The Normans near York? When you drive up to it, it looks like a normal farm. Once you pass through the arch though, it’s one of the coolest wedding venues in Yorkshire. A gorgeous courtyard, with one of the best wedding barns in Yorkshire – that whole wall of light!!! The ‘marquee’ is perfect and the surroundings, again, are just stupendous. It’s another family-owned business that cannot do enough for you!
